The United Nations has acknowledged Namibia's role in peacekeeping and commitment to multilateralism.
UN Resident Coordinator Hopolanga Phororo conveyed these and other solidarity messages to President Nandi-Ndaitwah at State House.
This was the first meeting with the UN delegation since President Nandi-Ndaitwah assumed office.
"First of all, it is just to commend Namibia and your Excellency on the peaceful elections and the gender composition of the new Cabinet and also commend you on Namibia's role in promoting multilateralism, regional stability and conflict prevention, particularly involvement in peace-building through the AU and SADC," said Phororo, adding that the UN commends Namibia for "being an important trailblazer as far as these issues are concerned, and we also express our gratitude for considering the UN as a partner of choice and the excellent partnership that we have had over the years in implementing the framework."
