The Erongo Regional Council is calling on potential investors in various sectors to attend the Investors Conference on the 4th of July in Swakopmund.

The one-day conference aims at advocating for the development of Uis and boosting its social development.

Specific sectors such as retail, real estate, mining, banking and tourism sectors are urged to form part of the conference.

Daures Constituency Councillor, Joram !Haoseb says there is a need for housing in Uis as the population increases.

He calls on both private and public sectors to join hands with the Erongo Regional Council to come on board and develop Uis.

"Then only with the private sector and government working together will we bring development to any given local authority or any region. So we are also encouraging the private sectors to come on board so that we must together The impact which we want to see after this conference is that we want to see the local business sector growing. We want to see more business sectors coming up. We want to see that bankers are coming on board to assist our SMBs to grow. And also we want our people to do away with the conception that SMBs are confined to that also. We want them to grow. We want them to enter the banking market."

Chief Regional Officer at Erongo Regional Council, Dr. Mupenzeni Ntelamo, says the conference will provide an opportunity for employment and boost small and medium enterprises.

"The Uis conference actually responds to the aspirations of the NTP6. Job creation is actually one of those. It should go through general statistics of the unemployment among the young people, which is really high. Issues around housing, issues around, of course, I've talked about all those other economic enablers that would actually ensure that we can provide these job opportunities for the young people in these towns. So those components, they actually very much align with the National Development Plan 6, as well as Vision 2030."

The conference is also expected to bring on board investors.

The public is urged to register for the investors conference at the Erongo Regional Council.
