The Control Admin Officer for Kamanjab Constituency Office, Lelintha Nkolo, says young people in Kamanjab village are facing serious socioeconomic challenges as limited educational resources, scarce employment opportunities, and weak infrastructure hinder their potential.
Nkolo, in an interview with NBC News, highlighted the high unemployment rate in Namibia, noting that Kamanjab is among the areas most severely affected.
The situation, she says, is exacerbated by the lack of local industries or businesses that could provide employment opportunities.
She added that many young people are compelled to migrate to urban areas in search of work, often facing the harsh reality of informal employment or unemployment.
The village infrastructure is underdeveloped, with a lack of access to water and electricity, she adds.
This scarcity affects daily living and hampers economic activities.
The lack of modern amenities and services contributes to a cycle of poverty, making it difficult for young people to envision a future beyond the confines of Kamanjab.
Nkolo says attempts to address these issues are ongoing, with various organisations and governmental bodies working to improve infrastructure, education, and economic opportunities in the village.
However, challenges remain substantial, and the youth of Kamanjab continue to face an uncertain future.
