Keetmanshoop Mayor, Annelize Knaus, has commissioned a series of interlocked paved roads in the Westdene and Kronlein residential areas.
The 16th street in the Westdene residential area was constructed at the cost of N$2.8 million, while the upgrade of Aroab Road to an interlocking paved surface in the Kronlein township amounted to N$2.1 million.
During the official commissioning, Mayor Knaus reaffirmed the municipality's commitment to the vision of a well-connected, inclusive, and service-driven town.
"We will continue working towards improved infrastructure, and we will continue to ensure that every project reflects value for our community."
The mayor expressed gratitude to the town's residents for their patience throughout the construction process and encouraged them to take ownership of the newly developed infrastructure.
"To the residents of Westdene and Kronlein, these roads are yours. We urge you to take pride in them, to help maintain them, and to see them as symbols of what we can achieve if we work together. This is not just the end of the project; it is the beginning of a better-connected Keetmanshoop."
Knaus also commended the road contractors for successfully completing the projects amid logistical and other challenges experienced.
