A group of young people gathered in front of the police station at Otjiwarongo, demanding answers over the death of Brave Mbitjita Nangura, who was stabbed to death last year.
The group expressed their frustration with the silence of the justice system on the matter and called for a full, transparent investigation into Nangura's death.
The group said the 19-year-old has become just another statistic among scores of unresolved murders.
His cousin Mbinohange Kasiringua narrated the family's everyday struggles in trying to come to terms with his death.
"I am angry that it's been a whole year since we lost Brave and still, no answers. No justice. Just silence. Do you know what it feels like to wake up every day and realise he's still gone? To walk past his room and feel that empty space? To hold back your tears because your little siblings are watching, and you can't afford to fall apart."
The aggrieved group called on the police to speed up their investigations and to offer the family and friends a glimpse of hope in their search for answers to his death.
Receiving the group's petition, the Otjiwarongo Police Station Commander, Mervin Adams, informed the team that the investigation is still ongoing.
