Residents of Havo village in the Kavango East's Mukwe Constituency continue drinking water not fit for human consumption 10 months after the Rural Water Supply Division promised to drill a new borehole for them.

In October of last year, NBC News visited Havo village to cover the water crisis.

The Rural Water Supply division falling under the Kavango West Regional Council responded at the time, stating that the issue was receiving attention from their office.

The residents have been grappling with water problems since 2022.

The current water system only fills one of three tanks, and that tank remains only half full.

The village's sole borehole serves both humans and livestock, but it is inadequate.

Two weeks ago representatives from the Rural Water Supply office visited the village but reportedly failed to provide any assistance.

The situation has worsened, with residents often forced to consume contaminated water, leading to waterborne illnesses.

As a result, villagers have resorted to fetching water from Dikundu village, which is six kilometres away.
