Kavango East Governor Hamunyera Hambyuka has called on the government to invest in skills development, especially in remote areas and under-resourced communities.

This includes allocating funding for TVET infrastructures and aligning curricula with market needs.

"TVET is our vehicle for industrialisation and self-reliance. By training our youth in agriculture technology, renewable energy, forestry management, and other practical trades, we can add value to local resources and stimulate economic activity. By adapting our curriculum to these changes, we ensure Namibian students are competitive in a modern economy."

Hambyuka further emphasised inclusivity in TVET systems to ensure that people with disabilities have access.

"By equipping individuals with practical skills, TVET empowers people with disabilities to participate meaningfully in the workforce, become self-reliant, and contribute to national development. An inclusive TVET is not only a matter of equity—it is a driver of social justice and economic resilience."
