Vice President Lucia Witbooi has urged young people to register and participate in the 25th of November's Local Authorities and Regional Councils elections.

The supplementary registration runs from the 4th to the 19th of August.

Witbooi, a member of the Swapo Party's Politburo and Central Committee, made the call at the party's ||Kharas youth wing seminar held in Keetmanshoop.

The seminar focused on enhancing youth entrepreneurship and highlighted opportunities in green hydrogen, oil and gas, agriculture, and voter education.

"It starts with us. It all starts with you, with me, your friend, and with your neighbour next to you by electing responsible people into positions of leadership. To be servants of the people, to deliver basic services to the community, and to make development in your community. Therefore, we need leaders who say the people's need for a better life is our problem. We can only achieve that if we inform ourselves and take the stand come 25 November 2025."

Witbooi urged the party's youth wing to mobilise the masses to secure the party's victory in the upcoming elections.

The Vice President also commended the youth for taking initiative in shaping their future by organising a youth entrepreneurship seminar.

"Today you are making history, and your participation in this seminar will not only create a future but also safeguard the one in which you want to live."

Also addressing the youth, the Minister of Health and Social Services offered the youth of ||Kharas free mentorship and leadership training.

In addition, Dr. Esperance Luvindao provided seed capital of N$3,000 and N$2,000 to a young woman and a man, respectively, running small businesses.

"We reaffirmed our commitment; we have different areas of expertise. I know it is not a very familiar face, but it will become familiar. I will be in the South. When you call me, I will be here; we will do the training, and we will invest because that's my part."

The Special Advisor to President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah and Deputy Head of the Upstream Petroleum Unit, Kornelia Shilunga, encouraged people to capitalise on opportunities in the oil and gas sectors.

"Let go of what no longer serves you; focus on your goals. Channel your energy into purpose. Government, the private sector, and our institutions are ready to work with you, but you must take the first step."
