The Okorukambe Constituency Office in the Omaheke Region has aided residents at Omitara Settlement with material to begin income-generating activities.
The office also assisted three local schools with modern technology, all to a combined value of N$200,000.
Okorukambe Constituency Councillor Rocco Nguvauva said the Omaheke Regional Council is committed to empowering local communities.
Unemployment remains a concern at Omitara Settlement, and Nguvauva expressed hope that the donation of tyre repair and fitment material, as well as IT equipment, will create employment and improve lives.
Nguvauva said the donation of computer laptops and printing papers comes in handy.
Owner of Wilmpie Tyre Repair, Willem Haoseb, welcomed the donation, saying it will help to create more jobs.
On behalf of all the other schools, the principal at Nossob Combine School, Kamaijanda Kakero, expressed gratitude, adding that many rural schools are in dire need of modern technological instruments.
