More than 600 new voters across the ||Kharas Region had registered during the supplementary registration of voters to participate in the November Local Authorities and Regional Councils elections by Thursday.
The supplementary registration began on Monday and runs until 19 August.
The Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN) regional election officer for ||Kharas Region, Jejamaije Mujoro, revealed the voter supplementary registration figures.
The ECN has over 100 fixed and mobile registration points across the region, with more than 90 registration officials.
"We are still urging the young people, especially those who turned 18, to go out in numbers. As adults and parents, we need to be reminded to explain to young people why they should access the registration points or, in general, register so that they can participate in the elections when November arrives. We are not doing badly in terms of numbers, but we can do better."
Mujoro revealed that Karasburg West Constituency recorded the highest, while Berseba Constituency recorded the lowest.
"The challenges are the usual, especially because we are using this technological equipment, the taps and the printers and all that. So, you will find that, at some point, they will be slowing down the process because a printer decided to freeze. I don't know if they are freezing because of the weather, like we are also freezing from the weather. But it is manageable."
He expressed gratitude for the government's as well as the business community's support.
