|Kharas Governor Dawid Gertze officially launched the Youth Desk on Wednesday evening in Keetmanshoop.

The Attorney General, Festus Mbandeka, has called for the enhancement of a culture of legal compliance within government institutions and agencies to reduce litigation costs.

He made the call during a consultative engagement with stakeholders in the ||Kharas Region held at Keetmanshoop.

Swapo Party Secretary General Sophia Shaningwa has called on party regional and local authority councillors in the ||Kharas Region to embrace service delivery with urgency. 

She made the call when she officiated at a workshop attended by the party's political office bearers outside Keetmanshoop. 

||Kharas Region has vaccinated a total of 10,330 children so far during the third round of the polio vaccination campaign running until 30 April 2026.

||Kharas Governor Dawid Gertze has welcomed the appointment of Deputy Minister of Health and Social Services Suzan Ndjaleka.

He described the appointment as strategic to strengthen service delivery and accelerate the sixth National Development Plan.

Alcohol was a contributing factor in a number of incidents reported in the ||Kharas Region over the Easter holiday.

Police in ||Kharas Region will be out in full force to ensure the safety of residents and visitors during the Easter Weekend.

Acting police regional commander, Deputy Commissioner Gottfried Kauhanda, said this during an address with police members.

The Governor of the ||Kharas Region, Dawid Gertze, said corruption is eroding public trust, undermining development, and betraying the sacrifices of Namibia's liberation heroes, and made a strong call for moral renewal.

The Swapo Party Regional Coordinator for ||Kharas Region, Mathew Mumbala, has reminded party members that unity and camaraderie must prevail within the party. 

He said this during the opening of the party's regional executive meeting held in Keetmanshoop. 

First Gentleman Epaphras Ndaitwah has called for urgent address of rising Gender-Based Violence (GBV) cases in the ||Kharas Region.

He said, although there has been some decline in overall crime in the region, GBV cases remain a cause for concern.
