People with disabilities in Keetmanshoop have appealed to ||Kharas Governor Dawid Gertze, requesting assistance to ensure they also benefit from the recently introduced increase of 100 in the old-age pension grant.

In a petition handed over to Gertze, the group described the exclusion as unfair and raised concerns about equal rights in implementing the increase.  

They maintained the issue has caused unnecessary hardship, confusion and a feeling of exclusion. 

Chairperson of the People's Revolution Association, Ambrosius Matheus, stated, "As the implementing line ministries, your office is best placed to investigate and resolve the administrative issues causing this non-payment. The inconsistent payments of Old Age grants, despite assurances from the Ministry of Gender that September 2026 would mark the final month of full payment, raise further concerns regarding the reliability and consistency of grant disbursements to vulnerable beneficiaries."

The group called for measures to be put in place to prevent similar discrepancies in future. 

The Deputy Director in the Office of the Governor of | | Kharas, Russel Titus, received the petition. 

The group requested feedback within 16 days.
