Namibia is taking a step towards stronger governance and accountability by hosting the African Peer Review Mechanism Governance Index National Dialogue and Data Validation Workshop at Swakopmund.

The four-day event brought together experts, policymakers, and regional leaders to validate data that will shape Namibia's governance scorecard.

The event also aims to strengthen transparency and evidence-based decision-making by ensuring that accurate data informs the governance index for Namibia.

Officiating the event, Ambassador Ashraf Rashed, Chairperson of the APRM Continental Consultative Committee, highlighted the importance of credible and inclusive data in shaping governance reforms.

"The APRM Governance Index is about creating a culture of accountability, inclusivity, and innovation, rooted in credible and nationally validated data."

Also speaking at the occasion, Erongo Governor Nathalia Goagoses emphasised the region's commitment to contributing to governance reforms and improving delivery.

"This workshop is not just about numbers. It is about shaping policies that will directly impact our communities and improve governance at all levels."

APRM Chief of Staff Damien Thesee pledged to align governance reforms with Namibia's national development priorities.

"This index will not only guide reforms but also promote a governance culture grounded in transparency, inclusion, and responsibility."

The discussion continues until Friday, with participants working to ensure that Namibia's governance index accurately reflects the country's realities.

Officials say the results will inform reforms that foster trust, enhance transparency, and enhance service delivery nationwide.
