In a concerted effort to improve sanitation and environmental health, the Tsumkwe cleanup campaign continues to gain momentum.
This week, key stakeholders and community members came together to chart a way forward in keeping the settlement clean.
The campaign aims to tackle waste management issues and promote a cleaner, healthier living environment.
Campaign coordinator Paulus Ndara highlighted the objectives are "to foster a cleaner, healthier and more sustainable Tsumkwe. To achieve this, we have set clear goals and defined roles for everyone involved. For the community, we call for your absolute support through individual commitment. This means taking responsibility for keeping your surroundings clean and properly managing waste."
He further added that stakeholders are expected to provide full support, no matter how small, as it is a shared responsibility, and every contribution helps them overcome challenges.
At the get-together, residents and campaign participants expressed both their concerns and their willingness to contribute to long-term solutions.
The clean-up campaign also ensures safer streets, allowing law enforcers to better patrol and locate suspects easily.
They also asked for the settlement office to start issuing fines to those who do not adhere to keeping their environment clean.
