The Mayor of Lüderitz, Phillip Balhao, has confirmed his resignation as a member of the Independent Patriots for Change.
Since Balhao served as a councillor of the Lüderitz Town Council on the party’s ticket, his tenure as mayor ended following his resignation from the IPC.
Balhao further confirmed that the IPC has communicated his resignation to the council.
Announcing his resignation in a post widely circulated on social media, the former mayor described it as the honour of a lifetime to have served the residents of Lüderitz.
He expressed gratitude to them for their collaboration and unwavering support, adding that he remains optimistic about the southern town’s future.
He also pledged to continue working for the community through other initiatives.
Balhao did not reveal what prompted his resignation, only saying he would comment on the matter in due course.
