The revival of the Parliamentary Namibia-Cuba Solidarity Committee is on the cards.
President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah announced the possibility during a bilateral meeting with Cuba’s Foreign Minister, Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, at the UN headquarters.
Once reinstated, the Committee would serve as one of several avenues through which Namibia and Cuba strengthen cooperation, building on shared ideals and a common history of resistance to oppression.
In 2024, the parliaments of both countries signed the Protocol on Cooperation to foster closer inter-parliamentary relations.
Namibia has also consistently used international platforms such as the UN to call for an end to the decades-old U.S. economic blockade against Cuba
