The Minister of Education, Innovation, Youth, Sports, Arts and Culture, Sanet Steenkamp, announced the approval of a temporary board for the National Youth Council (NYC) that will serve for six months.

Speaking in the National Assembly after questions from Members of Parliament, Minister Steenkamp said the interim board has been officially appointed and will begin its duties tomorrow morning.

She added that the focus in the coming months, likely beyond January, will be on organising the General Assembly. Following this, the substantive board will be established in accordance with the National Youth Council Act.
