The agreements signed between Namibia and India during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's state visit in July this year would ensure ample time for implementation in the years ahead.
President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah and India's High Commissioner to Namibia, Rahul Shrivastava, underscored the importance of Prime Minister Modi's state visit during a courtesy meeting at State House.
The state visit by the Indian leader was the first under President Nandi-Ndaitwah after she assumed office, describing it as historic.
"I really take it that it means a lot in our cooperation, and that's how I will treat it moving forward. I must say that Namibians were very happy about that visit, and so were our MPs. You could see from the chamber how friendly it was from all sides of the room, so you did a commendable job for us to have the Prime Minister here, and it is an underlying strong relationship between our two countries and two peoples that we must really strengthen in earnest."
During the one-day visit, the two countries signed agreements aimed at deeper cooperation in areas including the Global Biofuels Framework Agreement.
The Global Biofuels Alliance is a multi-stakeholder initiative that promotes biofuels as a key component in global energy transition and sustainable development.
The others are cooperation in health and medicine as well as the launch of an Entrepreneurial Development Centre in Namibia.
