The Tsumkwe constituency office, through the Otjozondjupa Regional Council, has stepped in to strengthen the education sector.
The office donated a photocopy machine and other school essentials to Makata Primary School.
For years, the school has struggled with limited printing resources. Demand for printed worksheets and exam papers is high there, where the learner population stands at 255.
The school relies on travel to Grootfontein and other nearby schools whenever it needs photocopies.
Principal Uvangua Jeimba expressed his appreciation for the donation.
"For now, I might say we are at peace; our teaching and learning will be assisted very much, and teachers will be able to make copies on time. and learners will not fall behind with activities which need to be copied. Additionally, this machine will serve not only the school but also the surrounding communities and the entire village by providing small copies of IDs and birth certificates."
Control office administrative officer Fredrika Nenghama handed over the donation on behalf of the Tsumkwe Constituency councillor.
"Today we celebrate not just the presentation of the machine but the strengthening of education, one of the most powerful tools for development in our society. Education remains the backbone of progressing our constituency, yet we know that schools in remote areas often face unique challenges, including limited access to basic teaching and learning resources."
She added that, rather than a donation, she considered the gesture an investment in the learners' future, the school's sound administration, and better working conditions for the teachers.
Speaking on behalf of the learners, Christine Lukas said, "Today is a very special day for us. We are here to receive a generous donation of a printing machine, and we would like to express our deep appreciation. This machine will make a big difference in our learning."
