The Deputy Secretary of the Swapo Party Youth League, Christine Haindaka, has been sworn in as a Member of Parliament this morning.
Haindaka is replacing Swapo Party MP Elifas Dingara, who resigned last week.
The 36-year-old Haindaka, who also served as the chairperson of the Kavango West Youth Forum, is looking forward to playing her role as a lawmaker.
"So I am looking forward to next year to hand over the office of the Swapo Party Youth League peacefully and also head to the National Assembly. As a younger person, I can think from the region of birth; I should not forget. They are the ones who laid this foundation for me. For me to be where I am is because of the region where I come from. For me to be where I am is because of the colleagues that have seen the leadership in me. I am here today as a national assembly member."
Her objectives are to spearhead the national development plans along Swapo Party manifesto and serve her country diligently.
"What I will do is to make sure that I spearhead the Swapo Party manifesto, which is simulated in the NDP six or seven of the Swapo Party, and obviously the art system and institutions in our party that need to be followed. So I am not there as Christina Haindaka but I am there representing my party, which is the Swapo Party. So I will make sure that whatever bill that I would want to bring to the attention of the assembly needs to go through the ranks and file of the leadership of the Swapo Party through the Chief Whip's office."
