Namibian creatives could benefit from improved financial technology solutions as the country strengthens the ICT sector's collaboration with Mauritius.
The Mauritian delegation, which includes about 15 ICT companies and representatives from the Economic Development Board, brings expertise in digital transformation.
During the Namibia-Mauritius ICT Business Forum, officials highlighted the challenges faced by Namibia's creative sector, particularly around payments, cross-border transactions and access to modern financial services.
Local artists, filmmakers and digital content creators often struggle to receive payments from international platforms and clients, limiting their ability to grow and compete globally.
The Acting Executive of the Namibia Investment Promotion and Development Board, Ndeyapo Shilongo, said Fintech presents an opportunity to address these barriers by improving digital payment systems and expanding access to financial services for creatives and other digital entrepreneurs.
Officials also highlighted Mauritius' established Fintech ecosystem, saying collaboration could focus on knowledge transfer, digital payment solutions and capacity building to support Namibia's growing digital economy.
Stakeholders said strengthening ICT cooperation between the two countries could create new opportunities for innovation, investment and improved cross-border financial services.
