Members of Parliament shared personal reflections on their roles since Namibia's independence, emphasising legislative progress while acknowledging areas that need improvement.
IPC MP Michael Mulunga said, "Parliament plays a very big role in crafting the 1990 Constitution and the laws passed by different parliaments, helping us administer our country."
UDF MP Nico Somaeb stated that "it means a lot to have our own laws, mandates, and vision for our country."
Swapo MP Marius Sheya noted, "Obviously, enacting laws, debating, holding the executive accountable, and exercising oversight powers. Quite a lot has been done, but there's still much to do."
AR MP George Kambala said, "It means serving with dignity and due diligence, a great responsibility that requires us to show up now."
NUDO leader Vetaruhe Kandorozu commented that "Independence means a lot because without it, I wouldn't be in Parliament. It could still have been occupied by South Africa's colonial apartheid regime."
NDP Leader Lukato Lukato added: "We are free now. The heroes who died for this country did not do so in vain; it freed all Namibians, from the first generation to today and generations to come."
