Prime Minister Dr. Elijah Ngurare said as Namibia celebrates its 36th independence, the country should move towards ensuring that its resources are shared amongst every Namibian.

The Prime Minister made the remarks during the Oshana Region's independence celebrations hosted at Oshakati Independence Stadium.

Ngurare spoke about the importance of unity of purpose across Namibia's 14 regions. He stressed the importance of equal distribution of Namibia's resources.

"Every Namibian should see and feel as well as benefit from the country's resources and leadership, in towns and villages, young and old, men and women, politicians, and business people. This will ensure that all Namibians benefit from the freedom that many sacrificed their lives for."

Oshana Governor Hofni Iipinge reiterated his renewed commitment to growing the region to its full potential.

He reiterated the significance of the 21st of March, urging Namibians to continue coming out in numbers for years to preserve the history of Namibia.

"This year's commemoration reminds us that independence is not an event of the past but a continuous journey, one that calls upon us to contribute meaningfully towards nation-building, economic growth and social progress."

Various traditional performances kept the crowds engaged, with the Eluwa special school's performance being a key highlight.
