Leaders at various levels in the Erongo Region have recommitted themselves to unlocking the tourism sector’s full potential.
The region recently hosted its first-ever Erongo Regional Tourism Fun Day and Exhibitors event.
Speaking at the event, the Chief Regional Officer, Sam Ntelamo, said it marks a significant step in positioning the region as a leading tourism destination.
Ntelamo explained that tourism is already a key contributor to the regional economy and that the initiative will help accelerate growth, create jobs, and build a more inclusive and sustainable industry.
“Hence, the Erongo Regional Tourism Forum was established on 29 June 2022, with the main objectives of driving sustainable tourism growth and development, and ensuring the geographic spread of tourism benefits across the region. The forum also serves as a platform to enhance cooperation among stakeholders and to facilitate networking within the tourism sector in the region.”
Chaired by the Erongo Governor, Natalia Goagoses, the forum is driving efforts to promote investment, support entrepreneurs, and address challenges facing the sector.
“I want to assist as Governor. We, the leaders of this region, stand ready to help you grow and move from point A to point B. We cannot remain in a state where only a few individuals progress. All of us in Namibia must move from one stage to the next, and that can only happen if we are disciplined and focused,” she emphasised.
The event is expected to pave the way for stronger partnerships and long-term development, as Erongo positions itself as Namibia’s coastal tourism hub.
