Old Mutual has donated wheelchairs, ramps, and toys to the Omake Charity Organisation, bringing hope to people with disabilities who often struggle to afford essential mobility support.

For many who depend on wheelchairs, not having one means more than limited movement—the cost can be prohibitively high, leaving some confined to one place or dependent on others.

The donation is intended to create opportunities and bring hope closer to those who need it most.

Speaking at the handover ceremony, Paulus Nekundi welcomed the contribution.

“Namibia can only become an industrialised country if we build it properly, with collaboration between the public and private sectors. This is a reminder to other organisations and individuals to ensure that we are creating happiness and opportunities for all.”

The Chairperson of Omake, Eddy Kgobetsi, said the support will go a long way in improving the lives of beneficiaries.

“These wheelchairs represent more than mobility—they bring independence, confidence, and a renewed sense of belonging. We are also proud to extend this support to Swakopmund.”

Kgobetsi added that the organisation is working toward establishing a soup kitchen, a counselling office, and a residential welfare and disability centre to better support the community.

The handover also serves as a reminder of the importance of partnerships in improving accessibility and restoring dignity to people with disabilities.
