NamWater dams have recorded a notable change this week with the overall water capacity standing at 79,4 percent compared to 78,6 percent in the previous week.

Dams in the south and western part of the country recorded the highest levels, followed by the Windhoek dams and central dams.

Head of PR at NamWater, Lot Ndamanomhata, says, "The Neckartal Dam was standing at 100.2% full and slightly above capacity as recorded on 30 March 2026, which was basically this Monday." Naute Dam stood at 86.3% this Monday as well, while Swakoppoort Dam stood at 80.3% and Von Bach Dam stood at 68.8%, while Hardap Dam stood at 52.8%."

The overall dam levels for this year have, however, slightly decreased in comparison to last year at this time but should not be of great concern because of recent showers.

He also added that even though there is currently no need to open the sluices, they are monitoring the dam levels and will do so if necessary.

Meanwhile, dams such as the Omaruru Delta and Omatjete are reportedly empty due to persistently low inflows, raising ongoing water concerns.

Ndamanomhata also urged the public to use water sparingly.
