The Development Bank of Namibia has committed N$1 billion towards strengthening the country's healthcare infrastructure.
In a press release, DBN says the funding will support the development of the health facilities and forms part of the government's "Roadmap" initiative.
Led by the Ministry of Health and Social Services, the initiative aligns with broader national development plans aimed at delivering integrated and high-quality healthcare services.
The funds will primarily be directed towards the construction of a 500-bed facility at Windhoek District Hospital.
Once completed, the district hospital is expected to ease pressure on referral hospitals.
Additional developments are also planned for district hospitals in Nkurenkuru, Otjiwarongo, and Ondangwa.
DBN's Chief Executive Officer, Titus Ndove, highlighted the importance of coordinated financing in addressing national priorities.
He says the investment will contribute to improved healthcare delivery while also supporting economic growth through job creation, construction activities, and local procurement.
The Development Bank of Namibia says it remains committed to working with government and development partners to close funding gaps and accelerate infrastructure development in the country.
