Erongo region claimed the football title of the 24th Nedbank Namibian Newspaper Cup after a final that went into extra time.
They defeated defending champions Kunene 2-1 at Westdene Stadium in Keetmanshoop on Monday.
Kunene took an early lead in the first half with a penalty scored by Michael Ngifikepunye, awarded after Erongo goalkeeper Leo Scholtz fouled Christiano Useb.
Despite Kunene's dominance, Erongo's defense held firm.
In the second half, Shahid Naobeb scored the equalizer for Erongo. Naobeb netted again in extra time, securing a 2-1 victory for Erongo and crowning them champions.
"This is what I expected from the start, and I am very happy today. Erongo has waited for this for a long time, so I am pleased. We controlled the game, and the difference was changing the game plan. We saw them using long balls, so we decided to press them in their half.London Aseb Erongo regional team assistant coach said.
"I am just excited for the team, the management, and everyone else who supported us during the tournament." Erongo captain Onesmus Timotheus said.
The 2025 champions Kunene were dethroned while host ||Kharas had to settled for third.
Meanwhile, Kavango East were crowned champions in netball, with Khomas finishing as runners-up and Ohangwena securing third place.
