Two hundred and fifteen graduates from the Faculty of Education and Human Sciences and the Faculty of Agriculture, Engineering and Natural Sciences graced the stage at the University of Namibia’s Katima Mulilo campus.
In his motivational speech, the Chief Executive Officer of the Namibia Financial Institutions Supervisory Authority (NAMFISA), Kenneth Matomola, applauded the graduates on their success and encouraged them to be impactful in the lives of others in order to realise true success.
Matomola further urged the graduates to be relentless in their pursuit of growth, drawing from his personal experience and how people were doubtful that he could accomplish his dreams.
In a speech delivered on his behalf, UNAM Vice Chancellor Prof. Kenneth Matengu highlighted that the strategic location of the Katima Mulilo campus as the gateway town to four SADC countries underscores the necessity for expansion to meet certain educational needs within the subregion.
The campus is currently in the advanced stages of preparing to introduce a diploma programme in Fisheries and Aquaculture. This programme is expected to create opportunities for the region to maximise the benefits of the flood waters, which frequently occur in the area.
Prof. Matengu added that the Katima Mulilo campus is positioned to serve the education and research needs of the SADC subregion and is already hosting the secretariat of the KAZA research TFC forum of universities.
