Discussions on strengthening intra-African air connectivity, improving air travel affordability, and advancing infrastructure development are taking centre stage at Aviation Week Africa 2026, which is currently underway in Windhoek.
The four-day event focuses on enhancing African aviation's connectivity, sustainability, and collaboration.
The event brought regulators, airlines, and investors together to foster growth across the continent.
The inaugural Aviation Africa Week, held in collaboration with Zambia, focuses on infrastructure development, air travel affordability, regional integration and fostering youth/women in aviation.
Speaking on behalf of President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, the Minister of Environment, Forestry and Tourism, Indileni Daniel, emphasised the need for practical outcomes to move the African aviation sector forward.
"Platforms such as Aviation Week Africa are therefore not just events that they are, but they are strategic enablers. They create the space for dialogue, for alignment, and for action. As we engage over the coming days, I encourage all stakeholders to focus on practical outcomes. Let us identify what must be done, who must act, and how we move forward together."
The conference further brought together airports, regulators, tourism authorities, ground handlers and military aviation professionals.
The event further aims to create a connected, competitive and sustainable aviation sector on the continent.
The event with participants from Namibia, Zambia, Ghana and Nigeria also includes an exhibition showcasing the latest technology, trends and infrastructure in the African aviation sector.
