The University of Namibia (UNAM) northern campus celebrated the graduation of 901 students during its fourth graduation session held in Ongwediva.

They graduated from the Hifikepunye Pohamba, Jose Edwardo dos Santos, Oshakati and Ogongo Agricultural Campuses.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony, UNAM Chancellor Nangolo Mbumba highlighted that UNAM will continue to strengthen, impact and build in-convention capabilities as critical players in the development mission.

Mbumba noted that the year 2026 has witnessed significant strides towards greater success, relevance, responsiveness, collaboration, and systematic impact.

He said that UNAM has reinforced strategic partnerships, assumed continental leadership and sharpened its focus on empowering its faculties and schools as suitable and capable engines of sustainable development.

His speech was delivered by UNAM Vice Chancellor Kenneth Matengu.

"I wish to inform you that the University of Namibia, in February this year, approved the establishment of the School of Manufacturing and Production Technologies, and that school will be based here at the Jose Eduardo dos Santos Campus. The graduates from that school will have the licence to practise as welding engineers anywhere in the world, and that is as a result of our partnership with the International Institute of Welding Engineers. With this School of Manufacturing and Production Technologies, it means that Namibia will be on the trajectory of causing industrialisation."

The UNAM Pro-Vice Chancellor for Finance, Administration, and Resource Mobilisation, Professor Ellen Namhila, expressed confidence in the new crop of graduates.

"May I remind the graduands that it is rewarding to remain humble and stay original and authentic? Work to earn respect; do not demand it. Go into the world and make a difference wherever you find yourself after this graduation ceremony. Well done to you, well done to your parents, well done to your lecturers, and well done to the guardians that raised you."
