The burial impasse of the late former Zambian President Edgar Lungu between his immediate family and the Zambian government will be resolved on Friday.
The South African Supreme Court of Appeal will tomorrow pronounce its position after the family appealed against the Pretoria High Court's August 2025 judgement that favoured the Zambian government.
In the coming days, the remains of Zambia's sixth President, Edgar Lungu, will reach the milestone of one year unburied.
This is because his immediate family and the Zambian government could not strike a balance over his burial rites.
Earlier attempts by government representatives, who were drawn from a cross-section of society that included former Malawian President Bakili Muluzi, church leaders, and traditional leaders, still resulted in no progress.
This situation forced both parties to depend on the legal system to determine how, when, where, and who should be responsible for laying his body to rest.
