The 14 regional governors will begin delivering their annual State of the Region Addresses (SORAs) from Monday, providing updates on development initiatives, challenges and plans across their respective regions.

The SORAs are in line with Chapter 12 of the Namibian Constitution, which states that the Regional Governor shall address the Regional Council on the state of the region.

The addresses serve as a platform for governors to account for activities undertaken during the past year and outline programmes and projects planned for the months ahead.

Traditionally presented after the President's State of the Nation Address, the reports focus on budget allocations, economic growth, infrastructure development and progress in addressing social issues at the regional level.

Press Secretary in the Presidency, Jonas Mbambo, told NBC News the SORAs are key in linking national development priorities with implementation at the grassroots level.

The annual accountability reports provide residents with insight into the performance of regional administrations, including the status of key development projects.

"The State of the Region Addresses complement the President's State of the Nation Address by translating national priorities into regional action. While the SONA outlines the vision and objectives of the 8th Administration and NDP6, the SORAs provide an opportunity for Governors to report on progress, challenges and plans within their regions. It's really an opportunity to take stock of progress, highlight challenges, and identify opportunities at the regional level, all while ensuring that the objectives of the Eighth Administration and NDP6 are translated into tangible results for ordinary Namibians. Ultimately, it's about accountability and making sure development reaches every corner of the country,'' said Mbambo.

The first State of the Region Address will be conducted on Monday by Hardap Governor Riaan McNab, starting at 10h00 in the morning, followed by that of Kavango West Governor Verna Sinimbo on Wednesday.

These addresses will be carried live on all of NBC's platforms.
