The |Khomas Regional Council, through the Moses ||Garoeb Constituency office, has donated 100 blankets, valued at N$49,000, to the elderly as part of the Winter Safe Net Programme.
The Chairperson of the |Khomas Regional Council, also serving as a councillor of the Moses ||Garoeb Constituency, Stefanus Ndengu, said this forms part of the government's continued efforts to support those in need, especially during the harsh winter.
He said such initiatives demonstrate the government's positive impact through community programmes that support the vulnerable and elderly and promote public welfare.
"Many families face difficult conditions, and we must extend support where it's possible. The winter's blanket being held over today is a symbol of care, compassion, and our shared responsibility to look after one another," said Ndengu.
Gabriel Namagumbo, a member of the Constituency Development Committee, stated that "The winter safety net programme is one of the government of the Republic of Namibia's social protection initiatives aimed at assisting vulnerable members of our communities during the cold winter months. Through this programme, the government continues to demonstrate its commitment to ensuring that no citizen is left behind, especially those who are most vulnerable to the effects of harsh weather conditions."
Paulus Haitembu, a beneficiary of the Winter Safety Net Programme, expressed gratitude on behalf of all recipients. "We thank God for giving us people that are working with our kids. And we thank the constituency councillor for holding hands with other offices to assist us. And we thank the NBC for coming and making sure that we get what is intended for us from the government."
