Police in Katima Mulilo are investigating a case of culpable homicide and reckless driving following a fatal road accident that claimed three lives on Sunday evening.

The deceased have been identified as 22-year-old driver Chansi Jonasi, 27-year-old Manda Ngabi and 21-year-old Pumulo Simataa.

The accident occurred along the B2 road, opposite the Zambezi Vocational Training Centre.

According to a report provided by Police Commander Julia Sakuwa-Neo, the driver of a silver Toyota travelling from the Katima Mulilo Border Post collided with two pedestrians while overtaking another vehicle.

The vehicle then reportedly collided head-on with an oncoming truck.

All three occupants of the Toyota Wish died.

The two pedestrians sustained serious injuries.

The truck caught fire following the collision and was completely destroyed.

However, the driver escaped the accident unharmed.
