The Zambezi Region's security cluster has launched its festive season safety campaign, code-named Operation Rainbow, which has been described as a symbol of hope, safety, and a promise of a harmonious festive season.

Heavy rains left some families in Rundu's Suncity area devastated, as their houses were destroyed.

The rainstorm on Tuesday evening left family members destitute, and some are still struggling to rebuild their dwellings. 

As the Kavango East Region braces for the festive season, the regional leadership is calling for collaboration with law enforcement to maintain peace and safety in the region.

This was the message shared during the launch of the festive season Road Safety Operation at the Masivi roadblock.

The Directorate of Veterinary Services has detected an outbreak of lumpy skin disease (LSD) in the Okakarara constituency of the Otjozondjupa Region.

So far, 39 cattle showed clinical signs of the disease, and two have died.

The seven traditional authorities, constituting the Okandjoze Chiefs Assembly, say they will not accept a joint declaration between the Namibian and German governments regarding the reparations for the genocide. 

They also plan to boycott the upcoming joint declaration roadshow in the region.
