Youth participation will be at the heart of this year's Independence Day celebrations in the |Khomas Region.

Leaders will be engaging young people in national festivities with activities planned over two days, starting tomorrow.

The Teachers Union of Namibia (TUN) Secretary General, Mahongora Kavihuha, is adamant that their members will stay away from school tomorrow in protest of the proposed national policy changes.

Kavihuha said the trade union members will participate in what they call 'Economic National Action Day'.

Through its corporate responsibility programme, Namibia Special Risks Insurance Association (NASRIA) has donated to five beneficiaries towards the goal of school development and supplying learners with reading material.

Two equal cheques of N$25,000 were donated to two schools in the Zambezi Region.

Bukalo Primary School and Silumbi Combined School both benefited from the gesture by former learner George Mayumbelo.

Silumbi Combined School will use the donation to buy 25 hostel beds. 

Gansu Construction Company Investment Holdings has donated 12 classrooms to Simanya Combined School in the Kavango West Region, following the conclusion of their contract. 

Gansu Construction Company Investment Holdings was awarded a tender to construct a school hostel at Simanya Combined School.
