Today marks one year since the diamond robbery at Namib Desert Diamonds - NAMDIA, an incident that resulted in the death of a senior protection officer at the entity located in the capital.  

The heist involved N$300 million, with criminal proceedings in this saga still ongoing in local courts. 

Namibia has been plagued by a series of high-profile financial crimes, many of which remain unresolved. The latest incident, possibly the largest heist in the country's history, occurred on January 18 when armed robbers targeted the headquarters of Namib Desert Diamonds (NAMDIA) in Windhoek.

Prime Minister Saara Kuugongelwa-Amadhila says Namibia should ensure optimal value for its natural resources such as diamonds to increase revenue, create jobs and reduce poverty.

The Premier said this during her first visit to Namib Desert Diamonds.
