Heavy rains on Wednesday night have left dozens of households in Chotto Compound homeless after floodwaters inundated their homes, ruining food supplies, documents and personal belongings.

A 44-year-old teacher in the Zambezi Region was attacked by unknown people in Chotto compound in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

The victim has been identified as Axon Samupwa, who sustained serious arm and facial injuries.

The driver of a Mazda drove into a house in the Chotto compound in Katima Mulilo.

The driver, who was taken into police custody, was tested at the scene, and his alcohol level was found to be over the limit.
