Residents of the Zambezi region are calling on the government to take action against the United Democratic Party (UDP), a party that was banned in 2007 for its secessionist stance. 

The residents alongside the 4 traditional authorities in the region took to the streets of Katima Mulilo today.

Members and supporters of the banned United Democratic Party recently staged a demonstration at Katima Mulilo calling for the separation of the Zambezi Region from Namibia.

Members of the Caprivi Concerned Group staged a demonstration at Katima Mulilo, calling for the release of five members of the UDP who were arrested at Kaliyangile Village.

Five men who were arrested for holding an illegal meeting of the United Democratic Party (UDP) appeared in the Katima Mulilo Magistrate's Court.
