His call follows a series of suspected food poisoning cases in the region, the most recent in Korokoko village, where two children tragically died after reportedly eating cassava roots.

The police at Rundu are investigating a case in which a 20-year-old man died during the Namibian Defence Force (NDF) recruitment selection test.

The incident occurred on Wednesday, 05 February 2025, at about 12:00.

After six days with its doors shut, classes have resumed on Wednesday at Japhet Haiyambo Primary School and Hompa Sophia Junior Primary School at Rundu.

The two schools were both temporarily closed following a sewarage blockage, and broken ablution facilities.

Rundu Town Council is recommending that Japhet Haiyambo Primary School and Hompa Sophia Junior Primary School temporarily close their doors while the lingering issues of sewage blockage and nonfunctional ablution facilities for learners are sorted.

This comes after NASA's assessment on the recent developments in the Namibian education landscape.
