More than 90 buffaloes died by drowning early on Tuesday morning, after trampling on each other near Kavimba Village at Kabulabula in Zambezi's Kabbe North.

Maize farmers are hopeful the new agronomy loan schemes will change the current challenges they face.

Agribank has launched the agronomy scheme for grain production at Katima Mulilo for maize farmers to increase production.

The scheme will finance production input of farmers in communal areas.

The Zambezi Regional Council has suspended its Chief Regional Officer, Regina Ndopu-Lubinda, with immediate effect. She has been suspended with full pay and benefits. 

The Minister of Urban and Rural Development, James Sankwasa, has appointed former Member of Parliament Marina Kandumbu as administrator of the Katima Mulilo Town Council following the dissolution of the Council last month.

The National Council Standing Committee on Home Affairs, Security, Constitutional and Legal Affairs visited the Katima Mulilo Border Post in the Zambezi Region on Monday to find out if recommendations proposed by the committee in 2022 have been implemented by the government.

The Chairperson of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on International Relations, Defence and Security, James Uerikua, said the committee had a successful week-long working visit to the Zambezi Region.

The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Gender Equality, Health, and Social Welfare has noted an insufficient transport system and a shortage of health staff in the Zambezi Region.

Its chairperson, Nono Katjingisiua, said the community still walk long distances to access health services.
