The Eenhana Town Council will relocate street vendors to a new site from the 30th of this month to bring order to the town.

Street vendors, however, are unhappy.

The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Urban and Rural Development is assessing the progress on the relocation of vendors around Windhoek's Havana 4-Way relocation, as the City of Windhoek moves ahead with plans to upgrade the Eneas Peter Nanyemba Road and transform the busy area.

Otjiwarongo Municipality has highlighted that it is still sourcing funds to set up an open market for street vendors scattered around the town.

Currently, Otjiwarongo is without a functional open market, which has left vendors trading along busy intersections and pathways.

Prime Minister Dr. Elijah Ngurare is set to meet informal traders operating under the popular "order with me" business model in the |Khomas Region on Saturday.

In a social media announcement, Ngurare invited "order with me" traders to a meeting scheduled for 09:00 at the NUST Auditorium in Windhoek.

Administrators of the City of Windhoek briefed the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Economy, Industry, Public Administration and Planning on urban development, infrastructure, and market plans.

The Minister of Industrialization and Trade has called for the creation of a database storing information on informal sector traders.

The issue of informal traders across the country was on the agenda this morning at Parliament as the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Economics and Public Administration sought to address the social protection of vendors.
