Kunene Governor Vipuakuje Muharukua says high poverty levels, long walking distances, teaching staff shortages, and poor infrastructure are some of the key reasons for the region's continued poor performance in the Senior Secondary Certificate, Ordinary Level, and Advanced Subsidiary Level examinations.

Residents of Kakira Mupepo are calling on the government to urgently construct an additional block of classrooms at Kakira Mupepo Primary School in the Zambezi Region, citing safety concerns over a temporary clay structure that is repeatedly damaged by rain.

Grootfontein Education Circuit Inspector Markus Munenge has announced that construction works for schools and classroom blocks in the circuit are going well and nearing completion.

The Education Directorate in the Zambezi Region has closed down Caprivi Senior Secondary School for two days to prevent a sewage spill. 

 Education Inspector for Katima Mulilo Circuit, Rosco Lukubwe, said the school closure will allow the Works Department and Town Council to unblock the system.

Hostel learners at Caprivi Senior Secondary School boycotted lunch at the dining hall this afternoon after sewage infested the path from the hostel.

They claim that the ongoing issue, unresolved for over three years, poses health risks.

The Ohangwena Directorate of Education urgently requires about N$2.4 billion to address serious infrastructure shortages in schools across the region.
