Justice and Labour Relations Minister Wise Immanuel has intervened to protect a vulnerable family in Ongwediva whose home was dubiously sold by their son-in-law.

Labour inspectors from across Namibia are meeting at Otjiwarongo for a weeklong refresher training workshop. Minister of Justice and Labour Relations, Wise Immanuel reminded inspectors of their role in enforcing the Labour Law.

Lawyer Florian Beukes, who represents the Magistrates and Judges Association, has accused Justice Minister Wise Immanuel of referencing laws that do not exist.

The Minister of Justice, Wise Immanuel, has filed an urgent application with the High Court to seek an order declaring the ongoing partial work stoppage by magistrates unlawful.

The matter will be heard on Friday.

The Minister of Justice and Labour Relations, Wise Immanuel, has highlighted progress made by his ministry over the past 6 years during a cabinet committee briefing at the Government Information Centre (GIC).

The ministry has issued 30 compliance orders, 20 of which are now under appeal.
