A group of the |Hai-|Khaua clan members expressed discontent over the appointment and installation of the clan's deputy Gaob, citing a lack of consultation with the wider community.

The |Hai-|Khaua clan, a sub-tribe of the Nama people, has appointed a new deputy Gaob. 

Senior traditional councillor of the |Hai-|Khaua Traditional Authority, Michael Haman, was installed into the position during a ceremony held at Berseba on Saturday. 

Vice-President Lucia Witbooi and Prime Minister Elijah Ngurare paid homage to the bereaved family of the late liberation struggle veteran Emeritus Dean Stephanus Tiboth in Keetmanshoop.

Tiboth died on Monday at the age of 80.
