The Mayor of Windhoek, Ndeshihafela Larandja, has urged motorists to be more considerate of cyclists and pedestrians when using the roads. 

The City of Windhoek donated safety gear to 150 cyclists and pedestrians, marking the conclusion of the city’s Zero Emissions Week 2025 campaign.

The donation aims to reaffirm the city’s commitment to residents' safety by distributing helmets and reflector jackets to commuter cyclists and pedestrians. 

John Haufiku, Chief of Corporate Communications at the Motor Vehicle Accident (MVA) Fund, has raised concerns about the increase in pedestrian-related accidents, reporting that four to five such incidents occur each week.
