Namibia's Vice President Lucia Witbooi has reiterated the call on citizens to speak out when facing life challenges, saying the country cannot afford to remain silent in the face of rising mental health struggles. 

This came as Lifeline/ChildLine celebrated its 45th anniversary in Windhoek.

Vice President Lucia Witbooi officially opened the 8th Session of the Rural Women's Parliament with Men as Partners.

In her address, she urged participants to focus their discussions on the pressing issue of gender-based violence, which she described as a growing concern in society.

Vice President Lucia Witbooi has said poor infrastructure and complex travel logistics remain key barriers to intra-African trade. 

Witbooi addressed a session titled 'Discover Namibia' at the Intra-Africa Trade Fair underway in Algiers City, Algeria.

Vice President Lucia Witbooi has called on African governments to mainstream the creative industry in their national development plans, emphasising the growing value of African creativity and culture as key drivers of economic transformation.

Namibia and Algeria have renewed their commitment to work closely together in the oil, gas, and wider energy sector. 

This follows a meeting between Vice President Lucia Witbooi and Algeria's Minister of Energy, Mines and Renewable Energy, Mohamed Arkab. 

The Namibia Investment Promotion and Development Board (NIPDB) is having an exhibition stand at the Intra-African Trade Fair in Algiers to promote local products and trade and attract investment.

Vice President Lucia Witbooi emphasised the importance of Africa moving beyond the export of raw materials, urging the continent to process resources in its own factories to grow its wealth. 

Vice President Lucia Witbooi will represent Namibia at the Fourth Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF2025), scheduled to take place from September 4 to 7 in Algiers, Algeria.

Vice President Lucia Witbooi engaged with disability centres in the Zambezi Region to promote inclusivity.

The Vice President visited the Mainstream Foundation, an organisation founded by parents of disabled children in 2008.

Vice President Lucia Witbooi is calling on young people from indigenous communities to take advantage of the newly launched National Youth Fund.

She made the appeal while speaking in Tsumeb during the celebration of the International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples.
