All residents evicted from the Endobo area in Tsumeb have been permanently relocated to a newly established settlement on a portion of Portion 49-761.

The Walvis Bay Municipality has assured the public that it will structure, phase, and support the relocation of residents to Farm 37 with essential services.

This comes in response to criticism surrounding the reported plan.

Residents of Mariental's Extension Five informal settlement accuse the municipality of relocating them to a flood-prone area after heavy rain flooded their homes this week.

Residents say they feel hopeless after rainwater flooded their homes and destroyed their belongings.

The Oshakati Town Council has begun relocating 180 families from the Oshoopala location to the Onawa reception area, which is situated on higher ground.

Plans are underway to relocate a number of households in Tsumeb's largest informal settlement to pave the way for construction of what will be the 'Kuvukiland' Kindergarten. 

Residents, including children from Ohangwena Region's Onamhinda village, were relocated to higher grounds after their houses and mahangu fields were submerged by floodwaters from southern Angola.

The Ohangwena Region has so far relocated 235 people from the Oshikango and Engela constituencies. These two constituencies are among the most affected by the floods, along with Ohangwena, Ongenga, and Endola.

Many makeshift homes near riverbeds were damaged or destroyed this rainy season, which has been marked by flash floods, forcing residents to relocate from flood-prone areas. 

Despite this, some individuals choose to remain in these high-risk zones, living under the constant threat of flooding.

The unwillingness of Windhoek's informal settlement residents to sign lease agreements with the city has delayed the completion of electrification projects.

Windhoek Mayor, Queen Kamati, revealed this during the council meeting. 

Tsumeb vendors say they will not move to the newly constructed fruit and vegetable hub as it does not meet their requirements.

The Tsumeb Open Market was officially opened by Urban and Rural Development Minister Erastus Uutoni about two months ago.
