A memorial mass for the late Pope Francis is being held at Saint Mary's Cathedral in Rundu, Kavango East Region.
Catholics of varying ages have gathered to listen to stories about the life and times of Pope Francis.
In his tribute, Apostolic Administrator of Namibia's Apostolic Vicariate of Rundu, Father Linus Ngenomesho, told the congregation that he had the opportunity to meet Pope Francis twice.
During the first encounter, Father Linus said he remembered how nervous he was, having a whole speech prepared.
He then addressed Pope Francis as 'Your Holiness', but the Pope stopped him right there and said, "Father Linus, I am one of you; address me as Francis."
Thereafter, Father Linus said he started panicking, something the Pope noticed immediately.
The Pope then excused himself, went to fetch a glass of water and offered it to Father Linus in an effort to calm him down.
"He was a humble and simple man," says Father Linus.
The Apostolic Administrator of Rundu says Pope Francis made some unpopular changes, not only within the church but also in the world.
"He was inclusive in his approach, and that is something we can learn from."
Father Linus says that when the late Pope looked at people, he did not see colour or religion.
"What he saw was the image and likeness of God in each and every one."
Father Linus concluded by asking the congregants to use Pope Francis' legacy to challenge themselves.
